Our quality topsoil contains no large stones (it is sieved to 12mm and some small stones are left for drainage) and is nice and light to rake out with a small amount of natural sand and PAS100 green compost added, to help break up the larger lumps of soil so that you can achieve a fine tilth. There may be very small woody biomass pieces still in the soil but these will break down quickly over the course of time.
