These Topsoil Bulk Bags are ideal for establishing a healthy lawn, growing fruit and vegetables, creating space for bedding plants, landscaping or improving soil quality. Topsoil is also perfect for re-invigorating your beds and boxes. Our quality topsoil contains no large stones (it is sieved to 12mm and some small stones are left for drainage) and is nice and light to rake out with a small amount of natural sand and PAS100 green compost added, to help break up the larger lumps of soil so that you can achieve a fine tilth. There may be very small woody biomass pieces still in the soil, but these will break down quickly over time. So if you're looking to buy a topsoil bulk bag, look no further.

Please be aware that because this is a natural product dug from the ground, there can always be small natural waste particles in it, and although we take every care whilst producing it we suggest that the product is checked thoroughly as it is tipped on the garden.

What is topsoil, and why is it important?

Topsoil is the uppermost layer of soil, rich in organic matter and nutrients essential for plant growth. It provides the foundation for healthy lawns, flower beds, and vegetable gardens. Our topsoil is ideal for building up raised beds, levelling lawns or simply adding to new garden areas ahead of planting or turfing. 

What types of topsoil do you offer?

We supply screened topsoil, enriched topsoil, and specialist blends for different gardening needs, including turfing, raised beds, and borders. These are delivered in bulk 1-tonne bags which can be delivered Nationwide. We also offer Mushroom Compost and general multi-purpose compost in bulk bags. 

How much topsoil do I need?

This depends on the area you need to cover and the depth required. A cubic metre of topsoil covers approximately 10 square metres at 10cm depth. If unsure, use our topsoil calculator or contact us for advice. It is always advised to add 10% to your needs as you may want to top up the area once the soil has settled. 

Is your topsoil screened?

Yes, our topsoil is screened down to 12mm to remove large stones and debris, ensuring a fine, even texture that's easy to work with. There may be small stones but these aid drainage. As with all organic matter, there may also be small pieces of 'woody' materials but these will break down over time and continue to add nutrients to the soil benefiting your plants or lawn. 

Can topsoil go off or expire?

Topsoil doesn’t expire, but it may compact or develop weeds if stored for a long time. It’s best to use it soon after delivery for optimal results. We also advise against covering dumpy bags of topsoil or compost with plastic sheets to prevent it from getting wet as this creates a greenhouse effect and can actually stimulate weeds and moss growth quicker. If you can't spread your soil straight away then we recommend keeping it under cover like a shed, carport or similar if possible.
